On 12.10, while many compiler options are enabled, PIE is disabled:

$ hardening-check saslpasswd2
saslpasswd2:
 Position Independent Executable: no, normal executable!
 Stack protected: yes
 Fortify Source functions: yes (some protected functions found)
 Read-only relocations: yes
 Immediate binding: yes

This is a regression over 12.04.
