Could you help me reproduce this bug. I'm on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS and
running

sudo apt-get install winbind=2:3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.2

on a fresh install worked. I also noticed that your bugreport mentiond
"InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386
(20091028.5)". Are you trying to install from the Ubuntu 9.10 CD
perhaps?
