Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

You report being on Lucid, but a 2.6.31 kernel.  I suspect that the
kernel headers on your system are not compatible with the module
code you are trying to compile.  Can you try upgrading to the latest
kernel, and then re-try installing this package?
