Hello Jon, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help us
make Ubuntu better!

It would appear this bug was fixed upstream in v1.4.6, which has not
been released yet.

We can go ahead and backport the patch, which is relatively small, from
here:

Marking as Triaged, as its already clear how to resolve the issue and
has already been reported upstream.

Setting Importance to Low, as most people will not want to run multiple
munin-nodes, and upstart makes it unnecessary to use the pid file for
daemon management.
