Public bug reported:
I have reported this bug before for the releases 9.04 and 9.10 but I'm
unable to find them for some reason so thought it best to log a clean
bug on it as those bugs had gone no-where.
Using ubuntu 8.10 32/64bit on my dell laptops or home built PC with a
dsa ssh key in /home/$username/.ssh in a file called id_dsa
-rwx------ 1 testuser users 1264 2010-05-09 22:49 id_dsa
if I do "ssh machine_name"
gnome-askpass is launched allowing me to input my password, the password
is then remembered and ssh-agent remembers the password and I never have
to enter it again.
In every release post 8.10 32/64bit, this includes 9.04, 9.10 and 10.04
on a clean install or upgrade, using exactly the same ssh file, with the
same name, permissions etc if I ssh into a remote machine, ssh-askpass-
gnome is not launched, and the remote machine just asks for a ssh
password, which it accepts, however this is obviously not put into ssh
agent so I have to input it for each remote host I connect to, every
time I connect.
I am not sure what's changed between 8.10 and earlier and 9.04 and later
to change this behaviour.
the output of "env" on my 10.04 machine looks like this

This bug has been open (in it's other forms) for a long time now, and I'm keen to put in the effort to get this resolved as for controlling multiple hosts as I do this is a real pain (it's one of the reasons I kept upgrading past 8.10 and then doing a re-install of 8.10)
