There is a MySQL server running, but we failed in our attempts to stop it.
Stop it yourself and try again!

Apparently the MySQL server on your system is running and can't be
stopped using the init script. I'd suggest you stop it manually
(potentially by killing remaining stale processes) and try the
removal/update again.
