Guenther, did you have AppArmor denials in your kern.log?

Can people try adding this to /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu:
  owner /dev/ttyS* rw,

If that doesn't work, can you try:
  /dev/ttyS* rw,
