upsrw mgeups doesn't give any output

I think there is a bug or something like this in PyNUT-rw-except.diff, because when I run cd /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6 && sudo patch --dry-run -p0 </home/lub/Downloads/PyNUT-rw-except.diff I get the following output:
patching file PyNUT.py
patch unexpectedly ends in middle of line
Hunk #1 succeeded at 193 (offset 3 lines).

and concerning the autostart-problem: I had already added nut to group
dialout, but this hadn't changed anything
