Binary package hint: nis

This is a 'clean' install of 9.10 in a Sun VirtualBox environment...
this is therefore a virtual machine and is running on a PC with WinXP
SP3.

I turned nis on to verify the usability of the site nis server
environment and on next patching the nis package failed to install.

version - obvious from the bug summary... Synaptic says I'm running / latest version are both nis 3.17-25ubuntu1. Package with apt is not installed...

I'd expect the nis upgrade to install!

It didn't... or it reported that it didn't anyway.

/var/log/apt/term.log doesn't appear to log any errors... during this
install. It logs information concerning the original setup of the nis
environment that contains company-specific identifiable information...
if you need this log I can provide it *but* I'll have to edit for
anonymity to meet site requirements.
