Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: clamav-daemon

So (at least) LTS Hardy is now broken. Depending on your configuration,
your email server could stop mail delivery after yesterday freshclam
update.

You can see in /var/log/clamav/clamav.log something like this:

Fri Apr 16 11:14:00 2010 -> +++ Started at Fri Apr 16 11:14:00 2010
Fri Apr 16 11:14:00 2010 -> clamd daemon 0.92.1 (OS: linux-gnu, ARCH: x86_64, CPU: x86_64)
Fri Apr 16 11:14:00 2010 -> Log file size limit disabled.
Fri Apr 16 11:14:00 2010 -> Reading databases from /var/lib/clamav
Fri Apr 16 11:14:00 2010 -> Not loading PUA signatures.
Fri Apr 16 11:14:06 2010 -> ERROR: Malformed database

This is intentional from ClamAV developers to disable old versions of
clamd, but hardy is LTS so it's now broken!

** Affects: clamav (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

** Summary changed:

- clamav-daemon stopped working
+ clamav-daemon stopped working in hardy

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: clamav-daemon
