Thanks for the report.

This should be fixed in Karmic's qemu-kvm-0.11 package. There have been 
a number qcow2 fixes upstream. Any one of these are expected to solve 
your issue. 

If you can reproduce this issue with that package, please reopen the 
bug.

Tried to add further storage to Virtual Machine OS:win2008 after
creating image with qemu-img using qcow2. New disk is recognized and
partitioned by win2008 ok.

When trying to format this new disk image (qcow2) in a win2008 Virtual
Machine(VM). The VM crashes and locks up the KVM process. qcow2 disk
images can be formatted no problem using a win2003 VM.

Using RAW format instead of qcow2 works on win2008 VM.
