Subject: [Bug 388520] Re: KVM (under Jaunty) virtual machine OS win2008 cannot format qcow2 partition. Virtual machine crashes
Thanks for the report.
This should be fixed in Karmic's qemu-kvm-0.11 package. There have been
a number qcow2 fixes upstream. Any one of these are expected to solve
your issue.
If you can reproduce this issue with that package, please reopen the
bug.
Thanks,
:-Dustin

Tried to add further storage to Virtual Machine OS:win2008 after
creating image with qemu-img using qcow2. New disk is recognized and
partitioned by win2008 ok.
When trying to format this new disk image (qcow2) in a win2008 Virtual
Machine(VM). The VM crashes and locks up the KVM process. qcow2 disk
images can be formatted no problem using a win2003 VM.
Using RAW format instead of qcow2 works on win2008 VM.
