Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: backuppc

Backuppc errors restoring when it encounters filenames starting ~$

Some background:

~$ files are temporary files, created by Microsoft Word in the
current directory whilst Word is editing the original file.

For example - opening filename.doc with word creates an additional
file ~$filename.doc

If Word crashes, it leaves this file behind. It's not usually a
problem, but it is playing havoc with BackupPC restore.

BackupPC backs up these files without a problem. I found that if I select a directory for restoration that contains a ~$xxx file, the restore fails.

The only workarond I can think of for the moment Is to do a nightly
purge of the pesky ~$xxx files before backups take place.

Cheers,

Chris.
