[Bug 445536] Re: pear install fails without error message, downloaded go-pear is also affected (Karmic)

I confirm this bug on a fresh Ubuntu Server 9.10-beta
ex : 
root at ubuntu:~# pear install Crypt_CHAP
downloading Crypt_CHAP-1.0.2.tgz ...
Starting to download Crypt_CHAP-1.0.2.tgz (5,494 bytes)
.....done: 5,494 bytes
root at ubuntu:~#

I try pear upgrade but there is the same problem : 
root at ubuntu:~# pear upgrade
downloading PEAR-1.9.0.tgz ...
Starting to download PEAR-1.9.0.tgz (291,634 bytes)
.........................................done: 291,634 bytes
root at ubuntu:~#
