Rereading my post I see that I proposed specific and simple changes to
the documentation which would solve the problem I encountered and which,
as far as I can tell, others did also:

You should now be able to SSH *to* the _remote_ host without being
prompted for a password.

Note the IMPORTANT emphases (sorry, the attempted underline of the word
remote in the original post didn't work)

As I said ,

1. This was clearer (to me): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=238672
2. A diagram clarifying which end is which would be very useful

It's annoying to have to read and compare multiple versions of
documentation to try to figure why something doesn't work. In this case
I provided a solution and, if I'm not mistaken, it was blown off.
