Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lm-sensors

I've just upgraded to new MSI motherboard with Fintek F71889F IO chip
and there is no way to get the CPU temperatures. A quick look to google
says me that there is two main reasons for it:

1. Old lm-sensors package in Ubuntu 9.10, current release is 3.1.1 and the Ubuntu shipped one is 3.0.2 or so. This problem is easy to fix but there is
2. Old f71882fg module in kernel/hwmon. There is a patch http://ring.nict.go.jp/archives/linux/kernel.org/kernel/people/jdelvare/linux-2.6/jdelvare-hwmon/hwmon-f71882fg-04-add-f71889fg-support.patch for adding support f71889f to existing f71882fg code, I don't know, is there plans to implement it to main kernel code.

So, the question is, is it possible to apply this patch for the next
Ubuntu 9.10 kernel update?

** Affects: lm-sensors (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
