X11Forwarding is ON:
...
X11Forwarding yes
X11DisplayOffset 10
...
And xauth is installed, when I connect (the first time or after removing .Xauthority) I get:
/usr/bin/X11/xauth: creating new authority file /home/admin/.Xauthority
The Display variable is OK:
$ echo $DISPLAY
localhost:10.0
The port 6010 is listening (I guess this maps to X display #10):
$ netstat -pan |grep 6010
(Not all processes could be identified, non-owned process info
will not be shown, you would have to be root to see it all.)
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:6010 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN -
tcp6 0 0 ::1:6010 :::* LISTEN -
I can even connect manually to port 6010:
OOOPps!
I got it!
I could do telnet 127.0.0.1 6010 BUT NOT telnet localhost 6010...
The problem was my /etc/hosts!!!
It was:
127.0.1.1 madcvd01lnx.rfranco.com localhost madcvd01lnx
Now I have fixed it to:
127.0.0.1 madcvd01lnx.rfranco.com localhost madcvd01lnx
And gedit starts up correctly.
What does 127.0.1.1 mean anyway? (I think that value was there in the defaul config for /etc/hosts)
Does it have a reason or is it just an errata? Does it have anything to do with IPv6?
