As milky-cow-101 has stated I also recieve this problem.
I have attached the outputs of mine on the default karmic smbclient and with version 3.4.1 (which works)

I will also add to this that it extends to nautilus which uses
libsmbclient to access windows shares and also fails but with an obscure
error of "Failed to retrieve file list"

Personally I think this is a huge show stopper for many people who are
now using Win 7 on other machines on their networks. It is definitely a
regression from previous versions as I have tested in Intrepid and it
functions perfectly!
