This is happening to me since ubuntu 9.04, when I connect through ssh (from mac and linux and windows clients it's the same) it hangs after a while, generally after going through the command history, but it also happens when navigating directories or trying to edit files.
When I had ubuntu 9.04 it just stopped doing it after a couple of weeks, but now, since I installed a new server with 9.10 it's happening all over again.
