Did you fix this in your ppa version at
https://launchpad.net/~grexk/+archive/ubuntu-dev ? If not... this won't
work on Karmic anyway, right?

Also, I only have access to karmic systems running amd64, and right now,
your version of open-vm-tools fails to build on amd64.
