Did you make a restore from a backup at some point that could have
messed up the permission on /etc/mysql/debian-start?

** Summary changed:

- package mysql-server-5.0 5.1.30really5.0.75-0ubuntu10.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 126
+ mysql fails to start if debian-start has the wrong permission - package mysql-server-5.0 5.1.30really5.0.75-0ubuntu10.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 126
