Seems to fail due to lack of '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock'. creating
this file doesnt help as it is removed somewhere as part of the init
startup

Jan 14 12:38:50 crystaltree /etc/init.d/mysql[12424]: Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' exists!
