Sorry, I shouldn't have changed it without comment.

The XAuthLocation option appears to work for me.

sudo mv /usr/bin/xauth /usr/bin/xauth-
"ssh -X localhost" gives "Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data for X11 forwarding."
"ssh -X -o XAuthLocation=/usr/bin/xauth- localhost" gives no warning.
