Public bug reported:
'snmpd' is filling up my daemon.log file. So I want to just log, what's
really important.
Specifying customized logging (-L parameter for $SNMPDOPTS) in
/etc/default/snmpd does not work with log priorities with syslog
facilities. Example:
SNMPDOPTS='-LS 0-4 d -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -I -smux -p
/var/run/snmpd.pid'
does not work. According to the man pages (snmpcmd(5)) this should work.
And it works on my Hardy servers, in fact.
Starting 'snmpd' with "-LS 0-4 d" results in:
invalid syslog facility: -
According to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=486875
this is a known problem and has been patched.
Either calling snmpd with "-LS 0-4 d" is deprecated and should be
updated in the man pages or something else needs upgrading/to be fixed
(new/patched version of libsnmp or something).
Package/Version: snmpd 5.4.1~dfsg-12ubuntu3
** Affects: net-snmp (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
