[Bug 358314] [NEW] Invalid e-tag when using mod_deflate

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apache2

When using mod_deflate apache sends invalid e-tags to the client. This
breaks use of the if-none-match tag, because apache doesn't recognize
its own e-tag and resends the file instead of sending a "304 Not
modfied"

Tags look like this: Etag: "2106e9-2c-3e9564c23b60"-gzip instead of Etag: "2106e9-2c-3e9564c23b60-gzip"
pay close attention to the quotes..

This seems to be the result of a wrong bugfix. More details are here:
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=39727
A bugfix for mod_deflate is checked in already here: http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=rev&revision=740149

It would be great if we could have this fix for hardy-bugfixes

I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, all packages up-to-date including the latest apache:
apache2:
  Installed: 2.2.8-1ubuntu0.5
  Candidate: 2.2.8-1ubuntu0.5
  Version table:
 *** 2.2.8-1ubuntu0.5 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy-updates/main Packages
        500 http://security.ubuntu.com hardy-security/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2.2.8-1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com hardy/main Packages

** Affects: apache2 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
