I now tested to put back the information into /etc/network/interfaces (and /etc/resolv.conf) and removed the connections in NetworkManager. NOTE: on the fresh installed 9.04 BETA
The Samba mounts now works at boot.

So my problem was likely related to the upgrade process (as well as the
sound problem I had before)
