Using "mount --bind" available at http://sudhaker.com/2008/04/isolated-
mysql-installation-openvz-cluster/, but I couldn't get it to work. Also
the "ln /var/lib/vz/private/101/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock ..."
mentioned in the article http://wiki.openvz.org/Shared_webhosting" does
not work for me

Additionally, "mysql -u root -p -S /vz/root/123/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock" fails with: 
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/vz/root/1234/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111)

Hardware node (Ubuntu Server) : Linux hn2 2.6.24-19-openvz #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 22:07:43 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Virtual mysql server node (debian): mysqld  Ver 5.0.32-Debian_7etch6 for pc-linux-gnu on x86_64 (Debian etch distribution)
Virtual mysql client node (debian): mysql  Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.32, for pc-linux-gnu (x86_64) using readline 5.2
