Binary package hint: samba

first of all: shouldn't the public folder be shared by default?
otherwise, what is so special about it?

anyway, i was sharing the public folder, and when i upgraded to ubuntu,
the share disappeared off the network. the computer reports no problems,
according to the computer, the folder IS shared. its not.
