Not much info in there. 
Could you also use the default configuration file and tell us if you can reproduce the error.

Could you please add the line "set -x" near the top of the file /var/lib/dpkg/info/samba-common.postinst then run the command:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure samba-common

This is very likely an issue with your configuration of samba.
