Jeez sorry to have bothered you. I asked a friend to try to install the
package... and he could without a problem. After trying various things,
I finally located the problem: the download server I was using (the one
I chose with the "Select best server" option) must be quite out of date,
because as soon as I switched to main... 217 updates appeared! I'll
write to the server maintainers' mailing list.

Cya. Delete this "bug" if you wish, if I don't get any response from the
mailing list I'll ask around IRC and Ubuntu forums how to report this
server.
