cjose vulnerability
==========================================================================
A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:
- Ubuntu 23.04
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Available with Ubuntu Pro)
Summary:
JOSE for C/C++ could be made to crash if it received specially crafted input.
Software Description:
- cjose: C library implementing the JOSE standard (development files)
Details:
It was discovered that JOSE for C/C++ AES GCM decryption routine incorrectly
uses the Tag length from the actual Authentication Tag provided in the JWE.
An attacker could use this to cause a denial of service (system crash) or
might expose sensitive information.
Update instructions:
The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:
Ubuntu 23.04:
libcjose0 0.6.2.1-1ubuntu0.1
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS:
libcjose0 0.6.1+dfsg1-3ubuntu1.1
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS:
libcjose0 0.6.1+dfsg1-1ubuntu0.1
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Available with Ubuntu Pro):
libcjose0 0.6.0+dfsg1-1ubuntu0.1~esm1
In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
