Ubuntu Security Notice USN-4398-1
June 16, 2020

dbus vulnerability

A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 19.10
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

DBus could be made to crash if it received specially crafted input.

Software Description:
- dbus: simple interprocess messaging system

Kevin Backhouse discovered that DBus incorrectly handled file descriptors.
A local attacker could possibly use this issue to cause DBus to crash,
resulting in a denial of service.

Update instructions:

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS:
  dbus 1.10.6-1ubuntu3.6
