USB External Hard Drive: SMART

Заинтересовавшись SMART, решил попробовать на своём диске:
$ sudo smartctl -d sat -a /dev/sdb

Весьма удивившись последним двум сообщениям smartctl, решил последовать её 
совету:
$ sudo smartctl -d sat -s on -a /dev/sdb
smartctl version 5.38 [i686-pc-linux-gnu] Copyright (C) 2002-8 Bruce Allen
