That is indeed what I was thinking. Yes, each (major) kernel of the series if they have feature sets different from the generic kernel. Those feature dirs are fairly straightforward to maintain and shouldn't.

There shouldn't be many of those and it makes more sense to me than what commit bd1690bd16c70f9631 does.
