I don't believe we have a clear list of which products from the vendor don't work though and so this is a stop gap measure to allow upgrades for a large majority of Ubuntu users while adding a check to make sure we don't put anyone else in a situation where their system does not boot. Once a new version of shim is available the quirk will be removed.
