Iain Lane has proposed merging livecd-rootfs:wip/ubuntu/focal/studio into livecd-rootfs:ubuntu/focal.

Requested reviews:
  Dimitri John Ledkov (xnox)
  Ubuntu Core Development Team (ubuntu-core-dev)

For more details, see:

In focal ubuntustudio's seeds ended up containing specific kernel ABIs, which means that we can't update its kernel. The -release kernel is pulled in using tasks, and livecd-rootfs adds the -updates kernel itself. This is two kernels on the image, and livecd-rootfs aborts the build due to this.

This proposal is deliberately an explicit hack for focal ONLY, to call out the specific nature of the breakage we have here, so it's clear for anyone reading the code.

The package lists contain commands which are executed by live-build in the chroot. We have to construct a command which causes the packages we don't want to be excluded so they aren't ever installed.

There is a test livefs build:

look for "XXX" in the logs to see where the new code fired.
