We discussed the -updates question in the last meeting and I thought you said that it wasn't something that needed to be a blocker for snapcraft, since there's a trade-off between having to apply updates at the start of the build and having to fetch updated images more often.

(Note that, currently, all Launchpad builds start from images built without -updates, and do a dist-upgrade as an early step; I'd definitely like to get onto images built with -updates because it would give us better throughput, but not having that isn't a regression for us.)
