I'm a bit dubious of talk of "gadget trees" here at all.  Classic images take their bits directly from the archive, to avoid version skew and make sure we're building with the latest binaries.  I understand that snappy images have a different view of what "the archive" is (ie: the snappy store), but classic images shouldn't be relying on external artifacts.
