I have the same problem on Ubuntu 16.04. I have to restart nm-applet
each time after resume on suspend.
Dell XPS13 9360
lspci |grep -i network
3a:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter (rev 32)
nmcli --version
nmcli tool, version 1.2.6
uname -r
4.14.2-041402-generic
This is how I'm fixing it:
killall nm-applet; nm-applet &
