[Merge] lp:~d.filoni/messaging-app/lp1366592 into lp:messaging-app

I don't see any difference with this patch vs what it currently does.
The main issue for me is that the TextArea component seems to automatically substitute a "." for each space
Wondering if using the default format of PlainText rather than Auto is a problem
