I'm not against this in principle, but to land SRU updates to stable releases (Wily has been released) we should first land this in the devel series.

Given that we keep grub2 mostly in sync between Debian and Ubuntu, have you brought this up on the Debian bug tracker for grub to see if the Debian developers are fine with this?
