Thanks for your detailed reply.

I think maintaining it as a caja-plugin is probably best. I can ensure the package is available in universe for Ubuntu MATE and it can also be easily packaged for other distros. I'm a maintainer for Debian and Arch Linux.

How do you propose I structure the source tree in order to maintain it as a standalone plugin?
