xnox, apologies, I was not aware of those other issues. I had been communicating with barry and he mentioned that he was "very excited" about the last of the python3 autopilot tests landing in image #29, meaning that python2 could finally be dropped from the images (in fact he was unaware that python2 was seeded and was expecting it to already be gone from image #29). Upon installing #29 we discovered that python2 was still there, and when we set out to find why it seemed that only the seed was pulling it in, nothing else. 

So I was acting on barry's confidence that python2 was no longer needed when I proposed this change.

Also apologies to ogra, I didn't mean to give an impression that this was urgent; dropping python2 doesn't fix any bugs, it just would be nice to do when it's ready. Thanks for landing it though ;-)
