The proposal to merge lp:~jtaylor/ubuntu/trusty/python-numpy/new-upstream into lp:ubuntu/python-numpy has been updated.

Description changed to:

update to numpy 1.8 from a git snapshot of the upstream maintenance branch.

numpy 1.8 offers useful new features and many performance improvements.

A small handful of packages are broken by it (5 in a testbuild including scipy 0.13.2 in debian), the most problematic one is cython which fails some tests, but these will be sorted out in debian soon too.
