Shouldn't you just update the pot and launchpad takes care of updating the po files daily?

boiko has updated the make task so it doesn't touch the po files, I think that's a little better for them because the po changes don't go through the train and don't cause conflicts with what they are landing. But I haven't understood the full details of translations yet.
