I'm marking this as fixed as it's fixed in a released Ubuntu (13.10),
and the remaining thing would be to port needed patches to older
Ubuntus.

According to Kevin's test it may be that more patches would need to be
backported than the one specified. I'd recommend 13.04 users to upgrade
to 13.10. 13.04 only has 9 months of security support so that must be
done in 2-3 months anyhow.

The Ubuntu 13.10 kernel will also be available to 12.04 LTS users by
January (via opt-in or installing from 12.04.4 installation media). That
can be followed at bug #1244356.
