seems mostly fine to me, some small comment:

- the Ubuntu python maintainers recommended in the past to use "/usr/bin/python" rather than "/usr/bin/env python" (should use the distro version for distro binaries, not the env version), should we take the opportunity to change those?

- it would be nice to upgrade the copyright years, they are outdated by some years ;-)
