No, Plasma 5 and related packages are new versions of the software so
they will typically install on top of the existing packages. They're
not stable enough to be recommended to users other than those
interested in testing.

Same as Unity 8, so people can have a known option they are able to test. We'd also want to test that e.g. new display manager SDDM works with the live image.
