Hi Dmitrijs,
Thanks for driving this discussion.

If the Kylin team feels we should leave the link for Ubuntu Chinese 12.04 in
place, then we should definitely keep it.
(N.B. I'm aware that they are planning to provide a PPA for UbuntuKylin on
12.04, but that's probably not sufficiently integrated that we would want to
advertise it on www.ubuntu.com.)

This sounds good to me.

IMHO this is a lower priority compared with getting the labels right, now
that there is no clear "sensible" default. Since someone may download on
one machine for use on another, they need to know what they're getting.

Quite right.

There are a couple of things going on here.
- The "download" links on the page point to the image directory, which is
used *only* for the OMAP desktop images. Server installs (for both
highbank and armadaxp) are supported only via netboot.
- The netboot images themselves are "supported" for 5 years per
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrecisePangolin/ReleaseManifest; however, this is
contingent on the per-subarch kernels receiving security support, and I'm
fairly certain the armadaxp kernel that was released with 12.04 does NOT
get 5 years of security support. It is *currently* receiving security
updates, but the kernel team's understanding is that this is 18mo only.
- As you've noted, ArmadaXP support has been dropped in raring; so while we
could point to 13.04 for the other subarchs when it releases, this would
not be the case for ArmadaXP.
- OMAP4 is our reference platform for ARM in 12.04, and as such I believe
the manifest is correct - that we are providing 5 years of security
support for this kernel.
So I would provisionally suggest the following changes:
- remove the reference to Marvell Armada-XP
- provide five download buttons
- 12.04 OMAP4 (Desktop/Server): http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04/release/
- 13.04 OMAP4 (Desktop/Server): http://releases.ubuntu.com/13.04/
*PROVISIONALLY* -- note that the omap4 images did not pass QA for beta
and were not released
- 12.04 Calxeda: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/netboot/12.04/
- 13.04 Calxeda: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/netboot/13.04/
- 13.04 Nexus7: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/raring/release/
Thanks,
