Have tested this with a variety of upstream and mainline kernels and they make the problem worse (system doesn't resume at all). Need advice on how to proceed.

We're still hacking around this and hoping for a resolution soon

We need this to be taken more seriously. It prevents us from doing Precise backports and Precise SRU testing properly. Until it's fixed we either need to use the alternate installer, which often stalls and is very slow, or the 12.04.1 daily candidate which is not the same thing as testing the 12.04 release image.
