Hi,
here is the QA update this week. In a nutshell, we are in pretty bad
shape and need to focus on fixing all the issues that are impacting our
testing.
Plenty more failures to troubleshoot tomorrow, from all the jobs running
today. Sorry not to be more specific. I will be able to give more
details tomorrow in the meeting.
=== Release Testing ===
==== Quantal Testing ====
https://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/view/Quantal
* Installer:
- Desktop:
- Unstable images all week (not a single "green" one)
[Bug 1023036] Error on /usr/share/ubiquity/plugininstall.py", line 1687,
affecting desktop images (preseeded install)
- Server and alternate:
[Bug 1021718] Ubuntu Precise ISO test failed in Jenkins due to debian

[Bug 1009579] [MIR] tomcat7 (replaces tomcat6)

DistUpgradeViewGtk (No module named vte)
[Bug 1022927] Precise to quantal upgrade test failed: obsolete files

==== Precise Testing ====
https://jenkins.qa.ubuntu.com/view/Precise/
- Desktop
No issues.
- Server and alternate:
[Bug 1021718] Ubuntu Precise ISO test failed in Jenkins due to debian
installer failed to get debconf answer 'base-installer/kernel/linux/initrd'.
- Upgrades blocked on:
[Bug 1022864] Oneiric to Precise upgrade test failed: User settings are
not preserved on upgrade
[Bug 1022927] Precise to quantal upgrade test failed: obsolete files
left after the upgrade
=== What was done engineering wise? ===
1) We are putting together a dashboard for smoke testing and the results
are already showing up there hourly:
http://ec2-23-23-127-224.compute-1.amazonaws.com:8000/smoke/quantal/
Smoke testing is implemented. It is not a full blown production
instance, i.e. the database may get rebuilt if required, but the data is
sound and feeding from jenkins directly.
2) Jenkins stopped running jobs automatically yesterday and jamespage
helped us pinpoint the problem. Everything is back to normal and all
jobs are running again.
=== What's about to land that might impact the other teams and release
as a whole? ===
Nothing. Hopefully all the bugs will be fixed and we will go back to
normal.
=== Summary of bugs working on by team (reasonably reliable) ===
http://reports.qa.ubuntu.com/reports/qa/qa-open-bugs-quantal.html
http://reports.qa.ubuntu.com/reports/qa/qa-open-bugs.html
=== Dependencies on other teams to make deliverables, blocking items,
release wide concerns? ===
Quantal and Precise seem very unstable. We need to respond quicker to
problems so that they don't pile up and become issues.
=== Team Status ===

Thanks,
Gema
